About
I'm Shelley Powers, computer book author, software developer, technology architect. Burningbird's RealTech is where I write about real technology–technology that I'm trying, testing, or using in my own development. My areas of interest are the semantic web, including the use of RDF/RDFa, web graphics, JavaScript, general web development and concepts, and standards.
Photo policy: Enjoy my photos and other graphics, and if you wish to republish any on your web site or other publication, feel free. All I ask is that you don't sell the photos commercially, or use the images for commercial purposes without checking with me, first, to see if doing so would violate other copyrights. I also ask that you give me credit—either by linking to the site's front page or the page where you found the photo, or by listing my name with the photo. An email telling me about the use would be nice and make my day, but isn't essential.
Advertising: I accept advertising at RealTech, as long as the ads fit the general topic area and audience, and the graphic for the ad fits within my sidebar, or as a banner beneath my top story. Included with the ad will be a link to your online site. Please contact me for rates.
Site design: Site designed by author, Shelley Powers. Site theme is "Silhouette". Vector images used (fence and rooster) were free SVG files from SVG Cuts, which holds copyright on the images. The SVG was originally created for use with a die-cast tool, but the great thing about SVG is it can be used for many purposes. My use is based on the given permission for using the SVG file for personal purposes, ie decorating this web site.
The font used at the site is Gentium Basic, downloaded from Font Squirrel. Site powered by Drupal.
